July 28, 2019, the Indians at Kauffman Stadium. In the fifth inning Terry Francona came to the mound to remove Trevor Bauer. Bauer turned toward center field and threw the ball over the fence. The gesture was the outing. The inning, whatever it had been, ended as a picture of a pitcher dismissing the baseball he had been paid to throw.

He apologized after the game. Within days Cleveland traded him to Cincinnati. The apology and the trade are both on the record. The ball stayed in the seats beyond the wall.

The entry is the throw. A pitcher leaving a game walks off the mound. Bauer threw the baseball out of the park.
