November 1, 2015, Game 5 at Citi Field. The Mets led, 2–0, in the ninth. Terry Collins had planned to bring in Jeurys Familia. Matt Harvey, who had pitched eight innings, asked to go back out, and Collins let him. Harvey walked Lorenzo Cain and gave up an RBI double to Eric Hosmer. The lead was one.

Salvador Pérez then hit a ground ball. Hosmer broke for home. Lucas Duda's throw from first was wide of the plate, and Hosmer scored the tying run. Kansas City won, 7–2, in the twelfth, and won the series.

Two decisions are in the inning. Collins changed his mind on the mound, in public, at the request of his starter. Hosmer, seeing the ball on the ground, ran. Duda's throw is the play that made the run. The conversation is why Harvey was still the pitcher when the inning began.
